Multi-period Mean-dynamic VaR Optimal Portfolio Selection: Model and Algorithm

This paper proposes the mean-dynamic VaR multi-period portfolio selection model with the transaction costs and the constraints on trade volumes. The Bat algorithm is applied to solve the multi-period mean-dynamic VaR model. Numerical results show that the Bat algorithm is effective and feasible to solve multi-period portfolio selection problems.

VaR optimal portfolio with transaction costs

We consider the problem of portfolio optimization under VaR risk measure taking into account transaction costs. Fixed costs as well as impact costs as a nonlinear function of trading activity are incorporated in the optimal portfolio model. Thus the obtained model is a nonlinear optimization problem with nonsmooth objective function. The model is solved by an iterative method based on a smoothi...

A Possibilistic Mean VaR Model for Portfolio Selection

Abstract: This paper deals with a portfolio selection problem with fuzzy return rates. A possibilistic mean VaR model was proposed for portfolio selection. Specially, we present a mathematical programming model with possibilistic constraint. The possibilistic programming problem can be solved by transforming it into a linear programming problem. A numerical example is given to illustrate the be...

Optimal Portfolio Selection using Regularization

The mean-variance principle of Markowitz (1952) for portfolio selection gives disappointing results once the mean and variance are replaced by their sample counterparts. The problem is ampli…ed when the number of assets is large and the sample covariance is singular or nearly singular. In this paper, we investigate four regularization techniques to stabilize the inverse of the covariance matrix...

Outperformance Testing of a Dynamic Assets Portfolio Selection Supplemented with a Continuous Paths Levy Process

This study aims at getting a better performance for optimal stock portfolios by modeling stocks prices dynamics through a continuous paths Levy process. To this end, the share prices are simulated using a multi-dimensional geometric Brownian motion model. Then, we use the results to form the optimal portfolio by maximizing the Sharpe ratio and comparing the findings with the outputs of the conv...
